July 2006 - Our daughter travels to Europe as a People to People Student Ambassador. We are very proud of her! She was nominated and selected to go to England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland with a group of 20 other teens from the mid-Missouri area. She has been studying and attending meetings for the past 6 months in preparation. She will meet a member of parliament, visit many castles and historic sites, participate in cultural events and learn team/leadership building skills such as rappeling down a tower wall. Nicole returned from her trip and had a great time. We will add a few of her photos here very soon.
May/June 2006 - We traveled to South Africa and Mozambique as a family with our friends from Mouzer Boerboel, LZT & Stoffel Bloem. It was a fantastic experience. We traveled the Mozambique coast from Maputo to Chickenquele, Inhambane and VillanCulos, snorkeled, and took a wild ride on a rubber duck to Santa Carolina island. We also had the great Prawn experience, in which 7 adults ate about 28 pounds of prawns the size of my hand :) Thank you also to the many fine boerboel breeder's who let us visit their kennels once we returned to the Johannesburg area. Our special thanks go out to my mother, Leanne, who boerboel-sat our kennel and home so that we could take this trip! This is a trip that we will always remember. July 2005 - Early in the month we went to Canada for a week of relaxation and to visit our friends Rob & Jen Backstrom of Northern Boerboels. We stayed on Lake Erie and enjoyed the beach, visited Niagara Falls & the wine country, as well as took in some night life and good food in Buffalo NY. Thank you for having us and your hospitality :)
May 2005 We had the good fortune to run into Anne Woodward of Induna Boerboel at an appraisal held in May of 2005 in Missouri of all places! She stopped by our kennel afterwards on the way back to her host's home on the east coast and we had a great time chatting about boerboels with Anne. We look forward to visiting her kennel when we visit Africa next year.
September 2004 LZT and Stoffel Bloem were our guests in the fall of 2004. We had a very enjoyable visit and took them on a mini-tour of the USA. We look forward to visiting them in SA in 2006 - this time our entire family will be able to go. This will be a "once in a lifetime" experience we wish to share with our daughter as well.
October 2003 Eric visited South Africa for two weeks the first weeks of October, 2003. He was able to visit many breeders, see several hundred boerboels, and visit many areas of the country. Eric was also able to take the written and practical exams to be an appraiser and passed. So Eric is the first US, SABT certified appraiser. A special thanks to our friends, Stoffel & LZT Bloem from Mouzer boerboel, for being great hosts and for taking time from work to be Eric's guide in the land of boerboels!
May 2003 Eric & Gina take and pass the first SABT Breeder's Course in the US. Attend appraisal at Purina Farms in St Louis, Missouri and in Virginia.
